There's something about hot summer nights and backyard dinning that begs for some bright color on the tabletop. If you happen to have some bold accessories from a recent trip to la Mexique, lucky you. If Mexico wasn't on the itinerary (or in the checkbook) this year, it's time to check out Emilia Ceramics.

Emily Brown (Emilia of Emilia Ceramics) is a San Francisco-based advertising-marketer-turned-artisan-ceramic-importer (one of those made-a-dream-come-true gigs) who launched her San Francisco-based company a year ago. She imports hand painted pottery from Mexico, Spain, Italy, and France through relationships she's fostered with local artisans in each region. —Detailed, beautiful, soulful products that support the craft of true artisans. I love it.

Here, read about the ceramic artists behind the products featured below—a collection which Brown refers to as "authentic Mexican flavor with modern sophistication." We couldn't agree more.

1
"El Verano" tall candle holder and "Fiesta" tall candle holder, $24 each

2
"Fiesta" jewelry box, $18 each

3
Votive candle holders, pair for $28

4
Short candle holders with handles, pair for $36

Handmade art for under $40 make such great gifts. And for those of you looking to register for unique bridal (or housewarming?) goods, Emilia Ceramics recently launched their online registry.

Emilia's ceramics really are special - weddings and housewarmings aside, they're actually really great gifts to bring to a dinner party or holiday gathering, especially if the hostess is one of those women that "has everything" already. And the colors! Yellows, blues, oranges.. truly an inspirational gift.

I've bought a number of gifts from Emilia Ceramics, and everytime I end up buying something for myself too! I especially love the more modern Mexican collection she has which is made up mostly of black and white designs, and some other solid bold colors. The pieces are a great way to add a lot of style to a room through a small purchase.

We received a number of gifts from Emilia Ceramics for our wedding and we love them. Each piece adds such a lovely burst of color to our home -- we have items from her collection in our kitchen, dining room, bedroom, and patio and we love them all. These are great gifts for all occasions!

Emilia Ceramics is the first place I turn for beautiful, unique gifts for pretty much every occasion. There is a nice variety of styles, and yet they all seem to go well together.

My recent shopping spree with Emilia ceramics was a huge success - the ceramic lamp, vase, votives and soap dish have taken my home interior to the next level. My eye is inevitably drawn to the colorful, handcrafted ceramic pieces each time I enter a room in my apartment. These will be the best domestic investment that you will make - they are visual happiness!
